Free Boiler Replacement Criteria is very strict now. Please read below for the criteria before applying.
✅ You Are A Home Owner In Receipt Of A Benefit ( Or Live With One )
✅ You Have A NON CONDENSING BOILER – ( Fitted Before 2005 ) OR A Back Boiler ( Fitted Behind The Fire ) OR No Boiler Fitted

You can now apply for a Free Boiler Grant under the Eco 4 Boiler Scheme where it will be 100% free for people on benefits.
Is The Free Boiler Grant Available For Pensioners In Manchester ?
Free boilers are only available for Manchester pensioners who :
- Receive Pension Credit ( guarantee or savings credit)
- Claim another qualifying benefit

What Warranty Do You Get With A Free Boiler ?
All boilers that are fitted as part of the Manchester Free Boiler Scheme come with a 2 Year Parts & Labour Warranty.
For a small fee you can pay to extend your warranty to 5 or even 10 years.
What Make Of Boilers Are Fitted On The Scheme?
The boilers fitted on the scheme are usually Worcester Bosch Or Ideals.
Both boilers have been found to be the most reliable boilers and are approved by the Government.
Do The Boilers Have To Be Faulty To Qualify For The Grant?
Boilers do not necesarily have to be faulty to qualify for the free grant.
The boiler has to be below 85% efficiency which most non condensing boilers over 20 years old are.
How Long Does The Free Boiler Application Process Take?
All being well, you should be contacted within 48 hours of applying and booked in for a survey.
The install usually takes place within 21 days of us receiving your application.
Can Landlords or Tenants apply for a boiler grant ?
No. Landlords are responsible for heating upgrades in rented properties so are not eligible to apply for a free boiler. All private rented homes have been excluded from The Free Boiler Scheme since 2017.
I Have been Rejected Due To EPC/ Condensing Boiler Fitted- Is There Any Help Available?
No. If we have sent you a notice of rejection due to a High EPC or Condensing boiler fitted, you will have to bite the bullet and pay for a new boiler privately.
We are not aware of any other scheme you can apply for.

Do Disability Benefits Qualify For A Boiler
No. All disbility benefits no longer qualify for the scheme.
how long does it take to fit a new boiler
Straight boiler swap: 4–6 hours
The quickest and easiest installation is swapping an old boiler for a new one of the same type.
This assumes that the replacement will be in the same location, and all the water, central heating and gas pipes are already in place — and are the right spec for the new model.
I Have No Boiler Fitted - Can I Apply ?
There Are Still Free Boilers Available Even If You Do Not Have A Boiler Fitted. You Can Apply For The Free Central Heating Grant For Over 70s.
This grant will fit you a brand new heating system Free Of Charge if you meet the criteria.
Free Boiler - Is It A Con?
This scheme is not a con.
If you meet the criteria, you will get a £2500 boiler absolutely FREE!.
Many people are now being rejected however as the criteria is very tough but worth you making an application as you may be eligible.
Back Boiler Replacement
Free back boiler removal and replacement grant is available too. This grant scheme aims to encourage the removal of outdated back boilers and promote the adoption of more energy-efficient heating systems.
You Qualify If You:

✅ Have All Insulation Measures Needed To Increase EPC Rating To A C or D
When is the Boiler Grant Due To End?
The current free boiler scheme is due to end in March 2026.
Grants can end at any time however so best to apply now if you wish to take advantage of this scheme.
What Is The Cost Of Boiler Replacement?
The average cost of a new boiler replacement with a small local gas engineer will typically fall between £1800 – £3000 .
This assumes a straight swap with no other work needed.
If you choose to go with a large company such as British Gas EDF etc, you can expect to pay from £3000 – £5500 again assuming a straight swap.
Who Funds The New Boiler Grant ?
This free boiler grant scheme is funded by the ‘Big Six’ Utility companies.
Eco has been especially set up to help low income households in England, Scotland and Wales, to access funding to install central heating, free insulation, and other heating upgrades.
The money comes from a levy of around £30 which is placed on every household’s electricity bill.
This money is collected by your energy supplier and fed into an ECO fund.
