Over 60s Bus Pass - Am I Eligible For One?
Unfortunately turning 60 no longer automatically entitles you to a Free Bus Pass in the UK.
What Is The Criteria For A Bus Pass In 2025?
To qualify for an over-60s bus pass in the UK , you need to meet the following criteria:
- Age Requirement: You must have reached the State Pension age, which is currently 67 for both men and women.
- Residency: You must live in the UK and pay council tax to your local council.
- Travel Times: The pass allows free travel during off-peak hours, which are between 9:30 AM and 11 PM on weekdays, and all day on weekends and public holidays.
How To Apply For A Bus Pass
Are There Plans To Open Up The Bus Pass To All Over 60s?
There is a petition currently live which is requesting that the Government opens up the Free Bus Pass Scheme to all people over 60 and not just those who have reached Pension Age.
To Date April 23 , the petition is showing 59000 signatures.

Can I get a Senior Railcard?
You can get a Senior Railcard if you’re aged 60 or over!
It allows you to save 1/3 on most rail fares across Great Britain.
You can apply online through the Senior Railcard website using a valid passport or UK driving licence as ID. Alternatively, you can apply in person at most staffed railway stations.
