As part of the UK’s plans for CO2 reduction, the Government is offering grants for all home owners in receipt of a qualifying benefit to scrap your old boilers and swap them to a new A-rated model.

Depending on your property type you could receive up to £1800 off a new boiler !

The previous £400 voucher scheme for scrapping old boilers has been superseded with this new scheme with more funding being released.

and replacing them with a more energy efficient A-rated boiler or renewable energy system.

Boiler Scrappage – Will I qualify?

To qualify for the boiler scrappage scheme, you must be a home owner, and the old boiler must be over 7 years old or more.

If you are a landlord or private tenant, you will not be eligible to apply.

Does The Boiler Have To Be Faulty ?

The boiler being scrapped must be either broken or have a fault found to be eligible.

What are the advantages of this scheme?

A-rated boilers  are kinder to the Environment, but because they are more energy efficient, they can help you save money on the cost of your energy bills.

Which boilers qualify for the scheme?

G-rated boilers are usually very old boilers with an efficiency rating of less than 70%, and G-rated gas fired boilers will have a permanent pilot light. Your boiler will probably be eligible if it is a gas boiler over 15 years old, or an oil fired boiler over 25 years old.

How do I apply for the boiler scrappage scheme?

First of all you need to arrange for a qualified installer to give you a quote for changing to a new energy-efficient boiler, (You can request quotes by calling British Gas on 0333 230 5081 or use Boiler Guide).

Over 1.5 million households in England can benefit from the Boiler Scrappage Scheme.

The purpose of the scheme is to help with the cost of replacing boilers that have a G rating or worse.

Benefits

The Boiler Scrappage Scheme replaces all boilers over 7 years old with an A-rated one.

A-rated boilers have efficiency rates of 90% or higher. They use less fuel than G-rated boilers and therefore cost less to run. They also emit less CO2.

The financial benefit to householders is cheaper fuel bills. The government estimates an average saving per year of £235. The benefit to the environment, once all 125,000 households take advantage of the scheme, is an annual nationwide drop in CO2 emissions of about 140,000 tonnes.

Are There Any Free boiler Schemes for 2021

The free boiler scheme was launched in January 2013 with an aim to reduce the UK’s energy consumption and provide grants to low-income households in order to help them improve the energy efficiency of their homes.

There are currently lots of companies still advertising the free boiler scheme in spite of it ending in October 2018 !

The current boiler scheme requires all applicants to have an insulation measure to get the boiler 100% free . This is usually Floor insulation or cavity wall .

People are still searching for a free boiler and so it does make sense for companies to take advantage of this.

However, for over 95 % of properties , all clients will need to pay a contribution towards the boiler . Usually around £500 but some detached properties will pay less or even Free.

We do not operate this FREE BOILER scheme so please do not apply with us if you are not willing to pay anything thank you.
