What Is First Time Central Heating?

Free Grants – Central Heating are part of the Energy Company Obligation to fund new heating systems for those deemed in fuel poverty to enjoy a brand new gas central heating system fitted.

First Time Central Heating Grants are available to both home owners and tenants in privately rented homes.

In most cases, the Central Heating Grant will cover the full cost of installing central heating in your home.

If your home does not currently have central heating and is heated by another method, then you may qualify for a Central Heating Grant to pay for the installation of central heating in the property. If your home is heated by electric heaters, electric fires, wood/coal fire, gas fires or electric storage heaters then these are eligible for replacement with an energy efficient central heating

Under the Government Eco 3 Grant Scheme, many properties have now enjoyed free central heating over the last 2 years.

Eco3 First Time central heating grants are part of a Government-backed scheme called the Energy Companies Obligation (ECO). In some cases they can cover the full cost of the work and they do not have to be paid back.

Central Heating Grants are available for the installation of central heating systems ONLY into homes which do not have, and have not previously had a central heating system.

If you have an existing boiler fitted – YOU WILL NOT BE ELIGIBLE!

 

 

Do You Qualify For A 1st Time Central Heating Grant?

 

 

If you qualify for a central heating grant, you will receive a brand new central heating system fully fitted to include up to 7 radiators and all controls.

Home Owner & Private Rented Sector are all eligible if someone living permanently at the property receives a qualifying State Benefit.

You will not qualify for a central heating grant if you rent your home from a local council or a housing association or if you live in a shared ownership home.

 

 

 

What makes a home eligible for a full central heating grant?

If your home is heated by electric heaters, electric fires, wood/coal fire, gas fires or electric storage heaters then these are eligible for replacement with an energy efficient central heating system. See full list below

  2. Inefficient electric storage heaters
  3. Gas room heaters
  4. Gas fire with back boiler
  5. Solid fossil fuel fire with back boiler
  6. Electric underfloor or ceiling heating (not an electric boiler)
  7. Bottled LPG room heaters
  8. Solid fossil fuel room heaters
  9. Wood or biomass room heaters
  10. Oil room heaters

The heating system used to determine whether you qualify for A Central Heating Grant is the one which appears as the ‘Main Heating’ system on the Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) for your home.

To qualify for First Time Central Heating Grants home owners need to sign a declaration confirming the following:

First Time Central Heating Grants are their purely to help pay for the installation of central heating systems in homes which ‘do not have and have not previously had a central heating system’.

 

The ECO Approved installer will then book your central heating installation at a convenient time. Actual installation will take a few days.
