Park Home Grants- Is There Any News For 2023?

NO NEWS FROM OFGEM YET SORRY

The long awaited grants for Park Homes are still not happening and we are getting lots of promises from Ofgem but nothing else!

Funding has been approved now but installers are not taking any applications just yet.

This could be down to funding levels as the  government are notorious for not giving enough  funding for some properties.

If installers cannot make a profit on some property types, they will not accept any grant applications unfortunately.

Park Homes  – Expensive To Heat?

Park Home Grants  are much needed for 2023 !

Mobile Homes / Park homes in the UK can have some of the highest energy bills as they are usually very poorly insulated  and being off the gas grid are always heated by expensive fuels such as bottled gas or electricity.

Indeed many people report energy bills in excess of £300 per month.

Insulation and upgraded heating is a must for these types of homes and this blog is to inform you of what home improvement grants may be  available to park home occupants.

Grants For Energy Bills For Park Homes Can Be Found Here

Why are Park homes so expensive to heat?

Park homes, especially older park homes, can be less energy efficient and a lot more poorly insulated than other types of properties.
This means that the  cost to maintain comfortable heating levels are very high.
Improving the insulation to your park home is recommended.

What Insulation Is Needed For Park Homes?

Insulation can be fitted to the external walls, roof or under the floor of your home.

Wall insulation:

Walls are usually insulated  by fixing insulated panels to the exterior of the home after which a layer of render and decorative coating is applied.

Another way of doing it is by using timber battens and insulation which is applied to the exterior and then overclad with new finishes.

Windows

Note: As part of the works to install wall insulation to your park home, the windows will need to be moved outwards to line through with the outer skin and re-sealed.

As a result, you may wish to consider replacing the windows at the same time as installing the insulation to ensure you get the best benefit from the works.

You can apply for an upgrade of existing single glazing or triple glazing but we do not anticipate any grant funding for this measure.

Roof insulation:

Often carried out at the same time as the replacement of roof finishes, appropriately specified roof insulation will improve the energy performance of your home whilst ensuring the roof space is well ventilated (allowing air circulation and preventing condensation).

Underfloor insulation:

In most cases this will involve installing foil coated thermal insulation to the underside of the home.

Some systems apply spray foam directly to the underside of the floor, but this is likely to seal all the pipes and wiring, preventing any future access.

Do I need permission?

Fitting external wall insulation is likely to change the appearance of your property, and so you may need planning permission to do this.
Check with your local authority before going ahead.
You may also need permission from the park owner before installation, depending on your park home pitch agreement.
