It will cost between £45-£60 to replace a storage heater based on the average UK electrician hourly rate.
However, if you need to replace multiple storage heaters in a full house, the project could take a couple of days.
This will cost around £200-£250 each day based on the average UK electrician daily rate.

Yes. Pensioners who receive Pension Credit can apply for this grant

There are grants for storage heated properties to upgrade to First Time Central Heating.

Electric storage heater scheme is available for all eligible households in the UK as part of the ECO (Energy Companies Obligation) Scheme.

Is The Storage heater Grant available to everyone on benefits?
Council owned or a Housing Association properties do not qualify for Eco Funding unfortunately.
To qualify for a free storage heater grant you must be living in a private property or a private rented property

Are old storage heaters safe?
A lot of the older models will most certainly contain asbestos, as it was widely used because of it’s fire retardant properties.
However, using asbestos was withdrawn in 1973, therefore, all storage heaters made since 1974 should be asbestos free.
Can you change storage heaters to radiators?
You need to remove and rewire off-peak circuits, as well as convert storage heater sockets to regular sockets.
This will allow you to install your new electric radiators in the same place where your old storage heaters were.
